    why-matters
    Why it matters

Alzheimer's starts 10-15 years before symptoms.

Cognitive decline begins decades before diagnosis. Small, sustained choices today shape the trajectory of our memory, mood, and independence for years to come. Almost 8,000,000 Americans have been diagnosed with Alzheimer’s. Many more are experiencing cognitive decline. The average age of someone living with some form of Early-onset Dementia is 49 and there are 75 million Americans with ApoE4, the most important genetic risk factor for Alzheimer’s disease. In addition, there is an estimated $360 billion in health care costs to the United States for individuals with Alzheimer’s disease or other dementias

    The Beginning of BrainHeal(th)

My father’s diagnosis, prognosis and ensuing disability thrust me into a position where I had to learn to become a citizen researcher with no formal training or background in medicine or science. When not working or tending to my family, it’s just been a lot of long nights and early mornings hitting the books, pouring over the published research and literature that’s out there, reaching out making calls out to doctors, biologists, chemists, geneticists and researchers. I’ve been told that what we’ve learned, what we’ve applied and the kind of results that we’ve gotten up to this point can help other people. I believe that, and I believe in that.

    About Eddie

Hi, my name is Eddie Rodriguez. I’m not a doctor, I don’t have a PhD. I don’t have any formal training in medicine or science. I’m a husband and a father of a 5-year-old, a 3 year-old and a 1-year-old, working full-time in finance. I’m also a caregiver for my father, who was diagnosed with Early-onset Alzheimer’s disease. I started BrainHeal(th) because many people had asked me to. My father was diagnosed with Early-onset Alzheimer’s disease in 2018. At the time of my father’s diagnosis, he was 53 years old. He was the primary income and health insurance provider for my mother and my younger brother, who was 15 at the time…
